Here to Help You Navigate the Claims System

If you’ve been injured at work or involved in an automobile accident, the last thing you want to do is worry about a complicated claims procedure. In the sections below, we’ll explain how to work with the WCB and MPI and provide intake forms for chiropractic care and massage therapy.

Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB)

When a work accident occurs, inform your supervisor immediately. From there, these are the steps to expect:
5
Making an appointment with Hanover Chiropractic & Massage Therapy.
5
An examination of your injury by the chiropractor, who will submit your claim to the WCB. (You’ll have very little paperwork to do!)
5

Direct payment for your treatments by the WCB often includes necessary medical supplies such as ice, heat packs, and back braces.

You can always visit the WCB website for more information.

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI)

If you’ve been in a car accident, call MPI (1-866-254-7639) and get an injury claim number. Simply give the claim number to one of our receptionists, and we’ll take care of the rest! Most claims receive 42 chiropractic visits, and MPI will also cover any necessary medical supplies.

You can always visit the MPI website for more information.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, and non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is ever completely free of potential adverse effects.

The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many clients feel immediate relief after treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness, or aching. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?
No. Chiropractic adjustments feel great! We’re confident that once you begin receiving your adjustments, you’ll begin to look forward to them. When you allow the vertebrae in your spine to return to their proper position, you’ll notice a lot less stress and tension.
Does chiropractic treatment require a referral from an MD?
It’s not necessary for a medical doctor to refer you to the clinic for treatment, though many of our clients are referred by their doctors or specialists. If you have any questions about referrals, our staff will be more than happy to assist you.
Can I be adjusted if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! It’s important to maintain proper spinal alignment and nerve function during this time. In fact, research has shown that labour takes less time and is less painful for those mothers who undergo chiropractic care during their pregnancy.
Can children receive chiropractic care?
Yes! Sports falls, learning to walk, or even the birthing process can place a great deal of stress on the spine. Those traumas can hinder a child’s growth and affect their health if left alone. Regular spinal check-ups promote normal development and prevent problems from occurring.
I don’t want my neck cracked. Can I still be adjusted?
No problem! There are many effective adjusting techniques that can achieve results without needing manual manipulation. Please let us know your concerns, and we’ll find a treatment option that is best suited for you.
Is chiropractic covered by insurance?

Manitoba Health covers a portion of every chiropractic appointment, up to a maximum of seven per year. Personal health insurance will often cover most of the remaining balance. And if you’re filing a claim with the WCB or MPI, we have some steps to follow in our Claims & Forms section.
